Fudgy Brownies
Deep, dark, fudgy brownies with crackly tops and melty chocolate chunks.
Instructions
Preheat and Prepare Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang on two sides.
Melt the Butter
Place the butter in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until fully melted.
Set the melted butter aside to cool for 3 to 4 minutes.
Make the Batter
Pour the melted butter and granulated sugar into a large mixing bowl.
Whisk the butter and sugar together vigorously for about 1 minute until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
Add the vanilla extract and whisk until the mixture looks slightly glossy, about 30 seconds.
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the cocoa powder directly into the bowl over the wet mixture.
Add the flour and salt to the bowl.
Fold everything together gently with a rubber spatula until just combined — do not overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Spread the batter into an even layer using the rubber spatula.
Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out with moist crumbs.
Cool and Slice
Remove the pan from the oven and set it on a wire cooling rack.
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
Cut into 16 squares using a sharp knife, wiping the blade clean between cuts for neat edges.
